Description

On behalf of our private client, we are seeking a professional and discreet Butler to oversee the daily operations & service standards of a 10-bedroom private villa near Florence.

The ideal candidate will ensure the residence operates smoothly and efficiently, maintaining an atmosphere of calm, refined service.

The role requires a polished, hands-on professional with excellent organisational abilities, strong leadership skills, and a deep understanding of private household operations and etiquette.

The family of three split their time between this estate, and abroad and downtime is available when they are away.

Working hours/schedule: Full-time 5 days per week, flexibility required including occasional weekends and evenings.

Duties (include but not limited):

Household Management

  • Oversee the smooth daily running of the residence, ensuring all rooms and facilities are maintained impeccably
  • Supervise and coordinate domestic staff, including housekeepers, groundskeepers, chefs, and maintenance personnel

Service & Hospitality

  • Provide high-level service to principals and guests, including table setting, beverage service, wardrobe care, and overall presentation of the home
  • Uphold formal service standards and etiquette at all times

Guest & Event Coordination

  • Welcome and attend to guests, manage arrivals and departures, and coordinate family gatherings, dinners, and occasional events

Inventory & Procurement

  • Manage inventories of household items, linens, wines, and supplies
  • Liaise with local suppliers and service providers to ensure quality and timely procurement

Liaison & Administration

  • Serve as the main point of communication between principals, household staff, and contractors
  • Track maintenance schedules, expenses, and supplier records

Maintenance Oversight

  • Ensure all property systems (lighting, heating, security, etc.) function properly
  • Schedule and coordinate repairs and preventive maintenance as required

Discretion & Professionalism

  • Maintain the highest standards of confidentiality, professionalism, and loyalty 

Requirements:

  • Excellent organisational, service, and communication skills
  • Fluent in English and Italian (additional languages an advantage)
  • Valid right to work In Italy or European passport
  • Knowledge of formal table service, etiquette, and household management protocols
  • Ability to anticipate needs, adapt to changing schedules, and manage competing priorities
  • Valid driving licence, familiarity with the Tuscan region preferred
  • Impeccable manners, discretion, and a polished personal presentation 

Salary: €40-45k gross per year max

Accommodation: Live-in option available (private quarters on the estate)

Unless otherwise specified a minimum of 2 years relevant experience is required to receive the advertised rate of pay.
