Live-in French speaking Houseman in Megeve

On behalf of our private client, we are looking for an experienced Houseman/Allrounder for their Chalet in Megeve, France. Ready to start!

This is a fantastic long-term opportunity for an experienced houseman possessing all round skills – suited for this role.

This role is ideally suited to a candidate who is confident in speaking French and English.

The principals are looking for a French speaking (to communicate & supervise tradesmen etc…) Houseman/Allrounder with previous experience in a similar role who is seeking a long-term position, their current staff has worked with them for over 20 years. Must be able to take care of the garden and swimming pool maintenance

The principals are in residence at the Chalet approx. 3 months a year and they enjoy entertaining/have guests stay.

Days & Hours of work:

Full time - flexibility required when the family is in residence for the 3 months of the year (this could be Christmas/Easter/ Summer)

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Table service and care of the cellar
• Cover maintenance duties i.e., garage, cellar, plant rooms and the surroundings of the house such as the front doorstep, 2 balconies, smaller areas of the garden & other parts in between visits of gardeners, systems of heating and lighting in the house, including 4.50m jacuzzi
• Some snow shovelling where the snowplough does not reach (small part of the chalet only)
• Driving for errands when/if required
• Home Cooking - simple, fresh, seasonal ingredients (look after the menu planning with lady of the house)
• Assisting with occasional dinner party's for up to 12-14, house guests, Christmas, and New Year's Eve dinners & occasional buffet for 24 max. Outside help with the service for dinners will be provided if more than 8.
• Grocery shopping
• Always Keeping the kitchen clean and tidy
• May be required to do some housekeeping - 7 bedroom/sitting rooms, and laundry if daily Housekeeper not around
• Assisting with a second Chalet close by - welcoming rental guests, checking in/out, be available for questions/help

Requirements:

• Proven experience in a chalet / private household/ similar setting
• Confident speaking French and English
• Excellent attention to detail and high standards of presentation
• Confident cook and service skills
• Strong organisational and time management skills
• Sound knowledge of maintenance duties (indoor and outdoor)
• Professional, discreet, and respectful of family privacy
• Valid driver’s license
• Checkable references

Accommodation:

Cottage with living/dining/kitchen areas/2 bedrooms, linked to the chalet by a pleasant underground passage.

There is an indoor heated parking space, and if own car, a petrol allowance, and maintenance allowance provided if using for the principal's needs.

Salary: From €60,859.00 gross per year equalling to €4K net per month (depending on experience and skills set)

Please note unfortunately candidates with dependents and/ or pets cannot not be considered for this position.
