- Our client is recruiting an imaginative & versatile Head Chef who can shift effortlessly between informal and formal dining drawing on a variety of classic and healthy cuisines. Our client has exciting projects that make this role particularly interesting including redeveloping the kitchen and creating a kitchen garden project, introducing farm to plate eating from the estate and therefore would also consider candidates from a Gastro pub & restaurant background such as The Pig.

JOB DESCRIPTION: Head Chef
REPORTS TO: Head Butler
LOCATION: Stately Home, Northamptonshire
HOURS PER WEEK: 40 hours per week, including evenings and weekends as needed
Overall description of responsibilities
We are looking for an ambitious and experienced Head Chef to prepare all meals for the Principal family, as well as execute on all private and commercial events, as well as the onsite café open during the summer months.
The Estate is a shooting one, and also produces venison, this candidate must be passionate about cooking with and butchering game. The Chef will ensure that the highest standards of food, service and quality are maintained, attention to detail is key. The family have a multitude of dietary preferences, including keto. An ability to cook to specification, or an interest and willingness to learn are crucial.
The principal family have a strong environmental ethos for their Estate and are striving towards a sustainable farming system and offering seasonal produce within all menus. Emphasis on origin, trace-ability and community (with support from local farmers) is what should drive this candidate.
Looking to the future, the estate is in the process of reinstating the walled garden with a goal to produce our own fruit and vegetables, simultaneously, the historic house will be undergoing a major renovation in 2021. The Chef will have the opportunity to be a part of the team in the overall renovation projects and must be motivated by the opportunity to contribute and collaborate on the re-design of the kitchen and hospitality spaces and further progress their department.
