Our private client located near Lucerne is looking for an experienced Housekeeper / laundry household assistant.
Starting ASAP!
This is an exciting opportunity for a discrete, meticulous, detail-orientated and flexible individual to support the smooth running of a (5) bedroom private estate.
The primary focus will be laundry care and general housekeeping tasks and adapting to the household needs.
Discretion, professionalism and a productive, calm and productive attitude are essential.
The ideal candidate will have prior experience in caring for fine garments, luxury fabrics, and household linens, with a strong focus on discretion, organization and high standards, however some experience is also acceptable.
Reporting to The House Manager.
This is a live-out position requiring a driver with a valid driver’s license.
Working day(s)/Hour(s): Ideally the candidate can work (8) hours a day for 5.5 days a week. The working hours will vary depending on the season and when the Principle and family are in residence.
Whilst the family reside in Switzerland, they often visit their other residences when possible and therefore less hours will be required.
Salary is dependent on experience.
Key Responsibilities and duties but not limited to:
- Perform all laundry duties including washing, drying, ironing, steaming, and proper folding/organization
- Care for delicate and high-end garments, including stain removal and hand washing
- Maintain and organize wardrobes and linen closets
- Conduct basic mending and alterations if required
- General housekeeping tasks as needed (e.g., tidying, cleaning, making beds, vacuuming)
- Assist with seasonal wardrobe changes and packing/unpacking for travel
- Maintain laundry equipment and order supplies when necessary
- Assist unpacking shopping, general kitchen assistance if required.
- Provide support during household events or guests’ visits
- Respect the privacy and routines of household members
- Clean the office downstairs.
Qualifications:
- Good level of English
- Prior experience in a similar role within a private household is preferred but not necessary.
- Excellent knowledge of fabric care and garment handling preferred
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Discreet, trustworthy, and respectful of confidentiality
- Flexibility to adapt to changing needs and schedules
- Good communication skills and a proactive work ethic
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Valid driver’s license
Unless otherwise specified a minimum of 3 years relevant experience is required to receive the advertised rate of pay
