We currently recruiting for a Domestic Couple to work on a Chalet in Megeve from Mid Dec 2018 to end March 2019.
Chalet Overview
The Chalet is a privately owned and based in the beautiful village of Megeve, France.
The Chalet has a permanent house keeper who comes on a daily basis when the owner is in residence. She is responsible for the heavy cleaning and general laundry for the Chalet.
You would be employed directly by the owner of the chalet and solely responsible for the following: cooking, shopping, basic housekeeping/cleaning prior to the daily arrival of the House Keeper, and for ensuring that the needs of the owners and their clients and guests are met at all times.
The chalet sleeps up to 10 guests in 5 double bedrooms and is used exclusively by the owner throughout the winter season. Occupancy levels are somewhat variable but likely to be 60% of the season.
When the chalet is full the hours can be long and therefore both physically and emotionally demanding. You must have extremely high work standards, be guest-focused, self-motivated, resourceful, flexible, conscientious and highly organised.
Previous Experiencerequired:
2 seasons previous experience in an ‘upmarket’/private chalet or yacht and be able to cook to a good "dinner party" standard at a minimum. Ideally will have completed a recognised cookery course and have held positions involving cooking in the past
Hold a recognised catering qualification and have a one year of experience in either the yachting/ chalet industry in a cooking position as well as hands-on experience in the hotel and catering industry, e.g., chambermaiding and/or waitressing, preferably in high level establishments
A clean, current driving licence and able to drive a manual car, ideally computer literate (ideally skills in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, Word)
The ability to converse in French is desirable
Main Duties
General
Contacts and liaises with the Owner as necessary to find out all relevant details of future guests - arrival dates and times, dietary needs etc.
Creates a warm and welcoming atmosphere for all guests
Prepares and cleans the fire, lights the fire on arrival day and thereafter according to the owner’s preferences
Grits the driveway as necessary according to weather conditions/after snow clearance
Clears the snow from the balcony and pathways according to the weather conditions
Provides a daily laundry service to the owner and to the guests in emergency situations
Helps make birthdays and anniversaries special
Cooking/Meals
Provides and serves an exceptional breakfast of local products. Pre-dinner canapés maybe be requested. Dinner is routinely 3 courses, plus cheese. Essentially you will be working as a private chef. Therefore, you will need to tailor your food to meet the Owner’s dietary needs as well as that of his guests. At times this will be a challenge, but you will also have immense freedom to show your creativity and flair within these perimeters. Catering for alternative dietary needs i.e. coeliac, vegan etc. will be routine
Goes shopping for all necessary provisions
Sets up and clears away after all meals
Prepares lunch boxes for the owner upon departure if requested
Housekeeping
Ensures that excellent standards of hygiene and cleanliness are maintained in/around the chalet-apartment at all times
Refreshes sofa and other cushions prior to and after breakfast/dinner where possible
Cleans kitchen, kitchen equipment and dining room/area, including mopping kitchen and dining room floors if necessary
Manages and cleans all food storage areas within the chalet
Washes up and polishes all glasses, crockery, cutlery and pans etc
Clears rubbish daily
Sets up and closes down the chalet-apartment at the start and end of the season with House Keeper as necessary
Ensures that all household equipment is maintained in the best possible condition; reports and arranges any repairs and replacements promptly to the Owner or his representative
Administration
Prepares reports/basic accounts for the Owner as required in respect of Chalet expenses
Ensures that fridge and freezer temperatures are maintained at a safe level for the storage and preservation of food; reports any issues immediately to the Owner or his representative
Maintains a record of all dinner menus, breakfast and afternoon tea dishes and submits these as required
Salary – 6000+ Euro per month - negotiable
Unless otherwise specified a minimum of 2 years relevant experience is required to receive the advertised rate of pay
